My most loved phrases/lines from The Alchemist

1) WORLD’S GREATEST LIE….It’s this: that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate.
2) There is one GREAT TRUTH on this planet: whoever you are, whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it, it’s because that desire originated in the soul of the universe. It’s your mission on earth.
3) Personal Legend – it is what you have always wanted to accomplish. Everyone, when they are young, knows what their personal legend is.
4) He had to choose between something he had accustomed to and something he wanted to have.
5) When each day is the same as the next, it’s because people fail to recognize the good things that happen in their lives every day that the sun rises.
6) The boy felt jealous of the freedom of the wind, and saw that he could have the same freedom. There was nothing to hold him back except himself.
7) The secret of happiness is to see all the marvels of the world and never to forget the drops of oil on the spoon.
8) He wept because God was unfair, and because this was the way God repaid those who believed in their dreams. *
9) I’m afraid that if my dream is realized, I’ll have no reason to go on living.*
10) You must always know what it is that you want.
11) I don’t know how to deal with change. I’m used to the way I am.*
12) You have been a real blessing to me. Today, I understand something I did not see before: every blessing ignored becomes a curse. I don’t want anything else in life. But you are forcing me to look at wealth and at horizons I have never known.
13) Sometimes, there is just no way to hold back the river.
14) There was a language in the world that every one understood, it was the language of enthusiasm, of things accomplished with love and purpose, and as part a search for something believed in and desired.
15) Making a decision was only the beginning of things. When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him to places he had never dreamed of when he first made the decision.
16) People need not fear the unknown if they are capable of achieving what they need and want.
17) We are afraid of losing what we have, whether it is our life or our possessions and property. But this fear evaporates when we understand that our life stories and the history of the world were written by the same hand.
18) Everyone has his or her own way of learning things. His way isn’t the same as mine, nor mine as his. But you are both in search of our Personal Legends, and I respect him for that.
19) Do not be impatient. Eat when it is time to eat. And move along when it is time to move along.
20) Someone in the world awaits you, whether it’s in the middle of the desert or in a great city.
21) That’s why I want you to continue toward your goal. If you have to wait until the war is over, then wait. But if you have to go before then, go on in pursuit of your dream. The dunes are changed by the wind, but the desert never changes. That’s the way it will be with our love for each other.
22) Everyday was there to be lived or to mark one’s departure from this world.
23) You must understand that love never keeps a man from pursuing his personal legend. If he abandons that pursuit, it’s because it was not true love.
24) One is loved because one is loved. NO reason is needed for loving!
25) Wherever your heart is, that is where you will find your treasure.
26) One dies of thirst just when the palm trees have appeared on the horizon.
27) Every search begins with beginner’s luck, and every search ends with the victor’s being severely tested.
28) The darkest hour of the night came just before dawn.
29) When we love, we always strive to become better than we are.

They say, I say

They say…
She is a deceiver
A liar
A swindler

I say…
She is a loving mother
A forgiving sister
A faithful wife

For them…
She is lavish
Selfish
Rubbish

For me…
She forgoes luxury
She’s a giver
She’s worth to be cherished

As I reflected on my life
it was full of they say and I say…
it’s a battle between according to them and according to me…
somehow I was not able to notice,
I was affected and molded by this raging war.

There were countless times in my childhood and adolescence,
when I was tired of fighting…I dropped my sword and all my defenses…
and thought for some time, that they were right.
But they are not…
and I am willing to stand up,
pick up my sword and fight again,
if only to prove them they are really wrong.

However, her ways are not like my ways.
She easily forgives and forgets the wrongs others have done to her,
while I wallow in my anger.
She taught me to love the sinner, but abhor sin,
while I hold on to bitterness.

She’s not perfect, she has flaws.
But she is my mother…and I am proud I am her daughter.

She may not know the best way to raise children
But I have witnessed how she gave her best
Her best may not be enough
But having tasted her love
I need not ask for more

shining moments...

each of us has its own shining moment...
even the seemingly dull and ignorant they too have their stories

i really envied the special (with general learning disability) children at school...
they laugh out loud from their pure hearts
what about me? i can fake a smile or laugh...
but those special children? they do not know how to lie
they can laugh at the slightest laughable moment they capture

but me? i just laugh whenever i seize mistakes from other people

there seem to be no hatred in their hearts...
they may quarrel for a while, but afterwards, they would always play again happily

worries? i cannot see it in their eyes...they just savor with a loving heart
what the world and their families have offered them

they are contented, satisfied...
me? i always ask myself, what would really make me happy?
i always find myself in a situation, asking myself, do i really belong here?
or is there something else that's waiting for me to accomplish?

i just wish i could be like them...

i thank GOD, for giving me a learning/thinking ability that is normal
sometimes slightly above normal...

however, i ask GOD's forgiveness if at times, i desire to be as pure like those children
able to laugh wholeheartedly, without any sense of criticism, sarcasm or resentment

Lord, with the gifts and talents you have given me, thank you!
but most of all, i would like to thank you in advance, for purifying my heart
and bringing back to me the pure joy that comes from knowing that You are my salvation!

i have stopped by the fleeting stations of materialism and passing terminals of short-lived happiness...
now, i would like to abide by the direction You have provided...

i cannot do it alone...
only with You will i be able to survive this journey...

i need You Lord...

and i really miss You

i hope you missed me too

this is a great day!

this is truly a great day!

thanks GOD! i was able to share to aunt konz' class the story about the deaf frog...

here it is...thanks to the person who wrote this...it truly inspires and refreshes one soul...
GOD bless...

thank you for visiting my spot :-)

the story goes like this...

I can do this!

There once was a bunch of tiny frogs... ...who arranged a running competition. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower.A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants... The race began.....Honestly : No one in the crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower. You heard statements such as: "Oh, WAY too difficult!! They will NEVER make it to the top."or: "Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!"The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one... ...Except for those who in a fresh tempo were climbing higher and higher...The crowd continued to yell ...."It is too difficult!!! No one will make it!"More tiny frogs got tired and gave up... ...But ONE continued higher and higher and higher...This one wouldn't give up! At the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who after a big effort was the only one who reached the top!THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this one frog managed to do it?

A contestant asked the tiny frog how the one who succeeded had found the strength to reach the goal?It turned out...That the winner was DEAF!!!!The wisdom of this story is: "Never listen to other people's tendencies to be negative or pessimistic......cause they take your most wonderful dreams and wishes away from you. The ones you have in your heart! Always think of the power words have. Because everything you hear and read will affect your actions!"Therefore: ALWAYS BE...POSITIVE!

And above all: Be DEAF when people tell YOU that YOU can not fulfil YOUR dreams!

Always think: I can do this!

Views of a ten-year old kid

These are writings of my ten year old student...his name's Japhet

It is the author's hope that we can learn from the thoughts of a child

Japhet Allen Marquez
Filipinos’ crisis

Before, there were killings, rapings and other evil activities. Now, because of the “Hello Garci” tapes, there is an even bigger problem.
There is bad economy, bad weather and bad activities. Many Filipinos went out of the country to find greener pastures.
Everybody has crises because of the Philippine country’s crisis. But strangely, tourists still visit the wonders of our country. A hope that means the country still has a patch of grass.#

There is hope

Killing, raping, corruption everywhere. “ How could we stop this?” you think. There is still a way, you know.
Corruption is everywhere. Even President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo corrupted. What a shame! Now the whole country is in crisis! But there is still hope.
You are probably wondering how to stop this. You could help in little ways. Your author friend does not know but is sure you will know what you could do.
But, you say? No buts, my friend. You could do it.
If Singapore could stop corruption then we Filipinos could. Mabuhay Pilipinas!#

How to stop corruption
Japhet Allen Marquez

The best way to stop corruption is to teach your children to do good things while they are still young. They will treasure these teachings until they get old. They will even teach these to their children.

Another best way to stop corruption is to teach other children. You can do this by storytelling during free time. (Make sure your story has the same moral as the one you are teaching.) They will love hearing your stories and guessing the moral.

Children are the best people to teach because they would still be there when you pass away. They will teach this to their children and grandchildren.

Practice what you preach, too. Children would do what you do when they grow up. They will be just like you, no matter how you teach them.

There are many ways to stop corruption but remember this: Do it as early as possible.

The lost magic of childhood
Japhet Allen Marquez

There are so many things people could do if they are still kids. They could climb trees, look for bugs and other activities.

However, because of technology these activities were almost forgotten. The children climb escalators than trees and look at bugs on TV than on real life.

These “insteads” could destroy childhood. Children, instead of acting their age, act above their age instead.

Parents take their children to malls instead of taking them to gardens. They play with Barbie dolls than with “Buggie Pals” outside.
So please, keep your children’s childhood alive. It is dangerous for them if you do not.
